Restricted Premises

On the weekend, while strolling the streets of Kings Cross after more birthday celebrations with my lady friends. (ladies who helped me birth the idea of my label in a pizza restaurant in Melbourne 4 years ago. Lladro on Gertrude Street, holds a special place in my heart!)
anyway this post is about Restricted Premises
my friends thought I might like it, so we turned a corner and walked into this amazing menswear shop.
Dark walls, drying bunches of roses and lavender hanging from the ceiling and displayed in antique bowls.
Rows of tailored cotton shirts and vintage racing car Green, mustard yellow and purple cord trousers, blazers and waistcoats with cotton striped lining poking out the hems and waistbands.
It feels like another world.
I touch one of the shirts and it is a beautiful quality cotton, washed and ready for wearing. I then do what I always do when I am truly interested in a label and look inside the garment to find the care label. And to my utter delight it is made in Marrickville.
This store makes me feel good about what I do. It is different to me, but has a similar ideal. Good quality fabrics. Washed. Classic shapes. Made Locally.
It was a treasure to be in the space and to enjoy the beautiful workmanship of the clothes.
Like stepping back in time.
If you are a man, go and get yourself a beautiful shirt from this outfitters at $249 you wont be disappointed.. You will have it forever and feel like a real Gentleman!
Shop 2b, 3 Roslyn Street, Kings Cross, 2000
Open Tuesday to Sunday 12-6pm
Friday 12-8pm

the week that was

I went cooking Scicilian style at Cucina Italiana Cooking school in Annandale on the weekend with my mama for her birthday.(Yes, I call my folks Mama and Papa, this got confusing when we were in primary school and some friends thought they were a famous band! They are creative, but not in the musical sense! we all love the Mama's and the papa's, especially this song) Anyway back to cooking, we cooked our own pasta and fish and puttanesca and this amazing Cassata cake.  Our teacher, Luciana was fabulously extremely Italian and I most enjoyed joking with her about Italian waiters and falling in love! Ah the cheeky things in life are so delicious! I just need to perfect my skills or just go to Sicily and fall I love with a waiter! Anyone want to come?
The view from above the lunch table
The view from under the lunch table
very empty plate after Cassata - the famous cake of Sicily!
me in double print and bows. Can you see the flour on my toes?
Dinner at a friends house with my handprinted napkins in use! Jasmine fresh off a fence - yes JASMINE people Spring is on its way!!!
a glimpse of my new stripes for summer
the current state of my workbench!

All in all, a fabulous life.
Working, celebrating, cooking, playing, learning, trying, LAUGHING!

white rabbit gallery and sunshine

White Rabbit Gallery, what a little beauty!
I finally made it on Sunday, thanks to a little reminder from Ashleigh, that it was the last day open before they closed for 3 weeks to set up their new exhibition.
And as Sydney sunned it up I wandered through this beautiful space and moving collection of art. These were my favourite pieces. Beauty on the inside...handknitted paper robes...growing cities...
Lovely staff, wish I had had a friend to have tea and slurp dumplings with...next time!

harry's cafe and hacky sac...

I have all my summer fabrics now so making my sample range this week, I can't wait to show you!!!!
